In this beginners' metal clay mini-course, learners will discover the properties of metal clay and the various ways of shaping it (rolling, cutting, texture mats) to create their own handmade pendant in pure bronze. I will take you through all the exciting steps to make a kiln-ready greenware (unfired) piece you will be proud to wear after firing. And then I will fire it for you. Students then have the option of receiving a finished piece by USPS, or coming back for the short Polish & Pickle session to learn the finishing steps first-hand.
Supplies: 25g Light Bronze Clay Use of Studio tools, cutters and texture mats, instruction/demonstration and hands-on guidance for the session, PLUS I do the kiln-firing, finishing and shipping of finished work via USPS Priority Mail
About Lauren
I am a lifelong professional artist. My early photography is still seen in episodes of "Friends" and with Reese Witherspoon in "Legally Blonde." Zac Efron, Matt LeBlanc, and Paris Hilton have all sat in front of my camera in the living room. But the 9/11 attacks on NYC completely shifted my focus, and I accepted the life-altering assignment of documenting the tireless efforts of rescue and relief workers at Ground Zero. In 2014, I moved to Denver to study drawing and painting. Diving into the spirit of Contemporary Western art, I built a body of work and began showing. In 2015, I took a metal clay workshop in silver and got hooked! NWA became my home in 2020. Since then, I have been making statement jewelry inspired by the amazing textures and formations of The Natural State.
