Margaret L., 71
40 years at the wheel. Patient with first-timers and messy hands.
In their own words.
I started throwing pots in a community college studio in 1984 and never stopped. I taught ceramics at Cleveland High for two decades before retiring in 2019. My garage studio has two wheels, a small electric kiln, and more aprons than any one person needs. I work mostly in stoneware — functional bowls, mugs, and the occasional teapot when a student is brave enough to try.

"Margaret was endlessly patient with my daughter, who was nervous about getting her hands dirty. By the end she'd thrown two little bowls and asked when we could come back."

"She treats the kids like real apprentices, not children doing a craft. My son talks about her all week."
Priya S.Parent · child age 11 - ★★★★★January 2026
"Warm, calm studio. Only note: bring an old t-shirt — clay gets everywhere, which is part of the fun."
Kevin O.Parent · child age 8
