For parents

An afternoon they'll actually remember.

Heirloom matches your kids with vetted mentors who teach real skills - pottery, gardening, woodworking, writing - in person, in your neighborhood. A parent is always present: watch from the sidelines or learn alongside your kid - whichever feels right. No screens. No scripts. Just someone who knows the work.

Finding the right person used to mean searching Facebook groups, asking around, and hoping someone knew someone. Heirloom puts everything in one place — vetted mentors, simple booking, fair pricing — so you can spend less time searching and more time watching your child learn something real.

Why parents choose us

Built around the things you'd ask first.

You're always there

A parent or guardian attends every session - no exceptions, no drop-off. Sit back and watch, or roll up your sleeves and join the hands-on part. Both are welcome.

Vetted before you ever see them

Background check, reference review, and a 30-minute video interview - re-run every year.

Free 15-minute meet & greet

Video call your matched mentor before paying for anything. If it's not the right fit, you walk away.

Fair, transparent pricing

$25–$75 per hour, set by the mentor. No subscription. No surprise fees. Pay after the session.

Cancel free, 24 hours ahead

Life happens. Reschedule or cancel up to a day before with no charge.

Skills that actually stick

Your kid leaves knowing how to throw a pot, prune a tomato, or join two pieces of wood. That's the bar.

Everything in one place

Browse vetted mentors, book a session, pay securely, and message your mentor — all without leaving Heirloom. No chasing people down across different apps.

Common questions

What parents ask before signing up.

How young can my child be?
Most mentors work with kids ages 6 and up, though many welcome younger siblings to tag along. You'll see each mentor's preferred age range on their profile.
Do I really have to stay the whole time?
Yes. A parent or guardian attends every session, start to finish - it's part of how we keep kids safe. Some parents sit back and watch, others jump right into the hands-on part alongside their kid. Either is fine; just let your mentor know what to expect.
Where do sessions happen?
Usually at the mentor's home studio, your kitchen or yard, or a nearby community space. Locations are listed on each profile.
What if it doesn't click?
The free 15-minute meet & greet exists for exactly that. If it's not the right fit, you don't book - no charge, no awkwardness.
